Foster Bunny Listy List
I've been so not in the mood to update, and sometimes I wonder if my Diaryland days are numbered. I find it hard to write about life these days. Things seem to have settled into a pattern here, and a not very interesting pattern it is, too.

Not that I don't like my life. I do like it - very much. But it just doesn't seem like much of a life to focus a diary on. There are no massive fireworks, no trips to exotic foreign countries, no eating mealworms on a network TV show. I'm not a fabulous wacko personality living the lifestyle of the rich and artistic.

It's just me and Bruce and the rabbits and cats. And the big ol' jungle outside, and this cosmetically challenged 50's rancher.

Sigh.

***************************************

We moved the house all around this weekend, and now I'm even more cognisant of how cosmetically challenged it actually is! Wow.

I do, however, have a much better studio situation. I think. I haven't taken it for a test drive yet. Basically, my studio is now in a much smaller room in the back of the house, which is somewhat dark and cramped, rather than in the spacious front room which had a beautiful view of Monte Sano.

I know - you're like "Huh?"

I've come to realise that I don't work well in spacious rooms, and I don't work well with lots of distractions. I like being in a little nest, with everything within reach. And in the front room I would get distracted by the view, the kitchen, the telephone....I just got very little done.

This back room, the former foster rabbit room, is painted a beautiful turquoise blue with blue curtains that I made myself, and there is a little built in desk for drawing and built in shelves for putting out all my tins of buttons, lace, old cloth scraps. It feels very homey.

There isn't enough room for oil painting, but I had already decided to move that outside for the summer due to the fumes.

The other benefit to this is that the foster bunnies are now in the front room, so people coming to adopt don't have to wander from room to room in my house. No more "Oh, come see the two foster bunnies who live in the bathroom..." sort of thing. It's easier to clean litter boxes and socialise with everyone when they are all lined up in pens, and the bunnies seem to like it more as they get to see eachother and socialise a little bit.

We have a bunch of bunnies now. Have you lost track of who's who along the way? Me,too! To recap:

We still have this pair of characters:

They'll never go anywhere. Yup, I am permanently attached to Loki and Miss Bunny, and they will be moving to the new studio soon. Why "soon" and not "now"? Because we are in the process of trying to bond them with these two ruffians:

The agouti and white bunny is Mark, and the little white Netherlands Dwarf is Pooh. They are two fosters that Bruce and I just adopted because they are nine years old and I couldn't handle the fact that they will probably die in foster care never having had a permanent home.

I have this hare-brained idea that we can bond them with Loki and Mirage and they can all live in the studio together. One big happy family. Ha ha!! Since Loki is ten and Mirage is an ancient 11, it will be like a Rabbit Assisted Living Center.

They are sweet, sweet bunnies. Pooh is about the size of a large doughnut and Mark has these big doe eyes with curly eyelashes. Mark is actually the father of these two:

Finny and Napkin, my first two foster bunnies. I still have them, they are still not adopted. Sigh. i love them so. Why someone has not scooped them up, I will never know.

We still have this little guy, too:

Sammy, alias Elvis, because he is the King of foster bunnies. I have to admit, I have a special place in my heart for little Sammy. He is quite a little devil.

We still have Morgan, too, who is almost recovered from her abscess and now needs to learn that it's not a good thing to bite someone when they are trying to hand you a piece of kale:

We only had Linus for what seemed like a few minutes though, before he went off to his permanent home:

Hi new mom has called me a number of times to tell me how much she loves him. He was quite a sweet little guy.

This is Ginny, alias, The Space Bunny:

Ginny does not approve of people cleaning her litter box. She does not approve of endive for breakfast, and she does not approve of being brushed. Since she weighs about twelve pounds and has large teeth, her disapproval is something to be concerned about.

We think Ginny might disapprove of life somewhat less if she had this guy to love on:

This is Peppermint. he is (gasp) even larger than Ginny. He came to us last week because one of our group members died and even though she made arrangements for her beloved bunny, the friends who said they would take him flaked out after the funeral. Rule #1: If you are dying your friends may very well promise you anything out of guilt or whatever. If you love your animals, place them BEFORE you actually die!! Especially if you know you have cancer!!!!!

Peppermint will only be here for a few weks though, before one of our other members will take him permanently. He's a sweet guy, but very spoiled. He only likes his veggies if they are hand fed to him, and he will only eat kale and parsley. Where do these rabbits get off, anyway?!!
